Chad Gable is ready to make an immediate impact in NXT. Hailing from Minnesota, a state rich in wrestling history, Gable is a true master of the mat. He can take down his opposition with ease, pinning their shoulders to the mat in the blink of an eye. That lightning-quick speed served Gable well in the amateur ranks, where he was a state champion in high school.
Gable reached the pinnacle of amateur wrestling in 2012, when he was victorious in the U.S. Olympic Trials, earning the right to compete at the London Olympics that summer. He soon shifted his focus toward the professional ranks, signing on to train at the WWE Performance Center.
Gable began to pop up on NXT television in summer 2015, urging fellow amateur standout Jason Jordan to join forces with him in NXT’s tag team division. Jordan refused at first, but finally gave in after several other partnerships failed. Jordan and Gable debuted as a team in impactful fashion on July 15, with Gable unleashing a flurry of pinning combinations that dizzied the opposition before earning the victory with a double-team suplex.
The mat masters now have their sights set on winning the first Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Gable & Jordan may just do that, if their first round victory is any indication. The two grapplers surprised the NXT Universe with a big win over Solomon Crowe and WWE Superstar Neville. Though they fell just short of making the tournament finals, they rebounded in a big way, defeating former The Ascension, The Vaudevillains and Blake & Murphy — all former NXT Tag Team Champions — in the months that followed.
Going by the name American Alpha, Gable and Jordan arguably realized their full potential after defeating longstanding titleholders The Revival at NXT TakeOver: Dallas to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions. Gable’s aware that as champions, he and Jordan now have tandem targets on their backs. He’s also confident that American Alpha is ready for any challenge that comes their way.
Chad Gable exudes the competitiveness, intensity and confidence of an Olympic athlete for good reason: He was one.
Hailing from Minnesota, a state rich in wrestling history, Gable has been a master of the mat since his youth. A former state champion in high school, he reached the pinnacle of amateur grappling in 2012, claiming victory in the U.S. Olympic Trials and earning the right to compete at the London Olympics that summer. Once the Summer Games passed, Gable turned his focus to sports-entertainment, signing on to train at the WWE Performance Center.
It wasn’t long before Gable’s prodigious skill inside the ring propelled him to Superstardom in NXT, where the savant of suplexes has found his greatest success teaming with fellow amateur standout Jason Jordan. Known as American Alpha, the duo has ignited NXT’s Tag Team division and won over the NXT Universe with their thrilling matches. Between Gable’s technical prowess and silky-smooth attack, and Jordan’s explosive power and athleticism, American Alpha are destined to become one of the most formidable combinations of all time.
There is no doubt that Chad Gable stands ready, willing and “Gable” to make his impact felt.
