American Alpha def. NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival

DALLAS — What began months ago as a reluctant alliance blossomed into the newest NXT Tag Team Champions at TakeOver: Dallas. American Alpha, Jason Jordan & Chad Gable, reached a new pinnacle during the biggest weekend in WWE history, defeating The Revival to capture NXT’s tandem titles in the thrilling opener of NXT TakeOver: Dallas.

True to fashion, defending champions Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson entered the contest with the composure one would expect from the pair of grizzled throwbacks … that is, until Gable outwrestled Dawson in the early goings, frustrating the champions and bringing all four competitors into the ring. Jordan & Gable employed several double-team attacks, including double backdrops, dropkicks and German suplexes, which brought the capacity crowd in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center to its feet.

The Revival eventually took over, using quick tags to prevent the Olympian from tagging in Jordan. Once Gable broke free, however, Jordan unleashed on the champions, throwing Wilder high in the air and launching Dawson with a capture suplex. Despite The Revival’s attempts to cheat their way to victory, the scary strong Jordan would not be pinned. He persevered long enough to tag in Gable, who traded near falls with Dawson before bringing Jordan back into action. Jordan continued brawling with Dawson and, after a clever tag behind Dawson’s back, American Alpha raised the unsuspecting Dawson for Grand Amplitude to win the match and the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Meet American Alpha At WrestleMania Axxess

American Alpha def. Corey Hollis & John Skyler

The red-hot duo of Jason Jordan & Chad Gable are laser-focused on capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship this Friday in Dallas. Nothing could knock American Alpha off the championship trail, though the hungry pairing of Corey Hollis & John Skyler tried. Jordan & Gable picked their opponents apart in impressive fashion before pinning Hollis with Grand Amplitude for the victory. Though it certainly won’t be an easy task, can American Alpha do the same to The Revival in Dallas?

Kurt Angle Talks American Alpha In Recent Interview With The World According To Wrestling

In a recent interview with The World According To Wrestling, former WWE Superstar and Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle discussed a range of topics, including his thoughts on American Alpha and a potential return to the WWE. Here’s what he had to say about the Number One Contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships:

Angle again said he will “eventually” be in the WWE Hall of Fame, but suggested a wrestling comeback before then alongside two of NXT’s hottest talents – Jason Jordan and Chad Gable.

“I’m 47 years-old. And that’s why those guys would be perfect as my team, like a Team Angle, because they could do the wrestling for me until the big one comes. So it would be kind of cool to have that. I’m not going to say those guys are going to be my guys, but they’re almost ready to come up – if not they are ready.”

As American Alpha, Jordan and Gable have ripped through the NXT tag division and have earned a title match against The Revival at NXT Dallas this Friday.

Angle said: “I’ve watched them wrestle and they’re really good. It would be really cool to have a new Team Angle.

NXT TakeOver: Dallas Preview: The Revival vs. American Alpha (NXT Tag Team Championship)

The red-hot American Alpha challenges the ruthless NXT Tag Team Champions at TakeOver: Dallas.

The Revival’s quest to prove that they’re the greatest tag team on the planet runs through NXT TakeOver: Dallas and the red-hot No. 1 contenders, as Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against American Alpha.

Dash & Dawson forced their way into the title picture last fall with a brutal attack on Colin Cassady that put the 7-footer on the shelf with a sprained MCL. The Revival’s precision in dishing out punishment earned them the NXT Tag Team Titles when they defeated The Vaudevillains in brutal fashion just weeks later. Since then, The Revival has held onto the titles by any means necessary. The team fights with a simple game plan: no flips, just fists. So far, it’s worked for them in spades.

However, standing in their way is American Alpha. The team of Jason Jordan & Chad Gable has taken the division by storm since joining forces last spring. Gable, a 2012 Olympian in Greco-Roman wrestling, is a true mat wizard and can take down any opponent in the blink of an eye. Jordan, a standout wrestler at Indiana University, is the powerhouse of the team and can suplex his rivals around the ring with ease.

American Alpha have been united in their goal of capturing the NXT Tag Team Titles since pairing up, but have made their case even stronger in recent weeks. Jordan & Gable have taken on several former NXT Tag Team Champions and walked out victorious, defeating the likes of Blake & Murphy, The Vaudevillains and the longest-reigning champions in history, The Ascension. American Alpha once again thwarted The Vaudevillains on March 16 to earn the right to challenge The Revival.

Can American Alpha prove that they are NXT’s top team, or will The Revival keep on rolling? Find out at NXT TakeOver: Dallas, live Friday, April 1, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, only on WWE Network!

American Alpha def. The Vaudevillains (NXT Tag Team Title No. 1 Contender’s Match)
NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival were keeping a close eye on this battle to determine their next challengers. Simon Gotch struggled in the early moments of the match, quickly falling victim to the mat wizardry of Chad Gable. American Alpha seemed to be on fire, but The Vaudevillains quickly isolated Gable and sought to wear down the Olympian in their half of the ring.

Gable sent Gotch crashing neck-first into the ropes, giving him the opening to tag in Jason Jordan, who dashed into the ring and tossed both Vaudevillains around with a series of huge suplexes. Gotch prevented American Alpha from hitting English with Grand Amplitude, ensuring the bout would go on. Jordan neutralized Gotch at ringside with a suplex onto the arena floor. That left English alone against American Alpha, who kept him off-balance with blind tags, setting him up for Grand Amplitude to win the match and earn the right to challenge The Revival at NXT TakeOver: Dallas!

NXT Preview: American Alpha face The Vaudevillains in an NXT Tag Team Title No. 1 Contenders’ Match

Two of NXT’s top tag teams collide this Wednesday with an NXT Tag Team Title Match hanging in the balance, as American Alpha clashes with The Vaudevillains in a No. 1 Contenders’ Match.

Aiden English & Simon Gotch have turned over a new leaf in recent weeks, with the former NXT Tag Team Champions ditching their upbeat, spirited attitude for a scowling, vicious aggression. It has brought The Vaudevillains success of late, as the ruthless duo knocked off The Hype Bros in tag team competition.

However, The Vaudevillains’ road to a championship match must go through the red-hot American Alpha. Jason Jordan & Chad Gable have gone on a tear in the tag team division, defeating some of NXT’s most decorated tandems, including Blake & Murphy and the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions in NXT history, The Ascension. In fact, it was after a loss to American Alpha last December that English & Gotch started to rediscover their ruthless roots.

Will The Vaudevillains’ hardnosed aggression get them another championship opportunity, or will American Alpha prove that they’re worthy of challenging NXT’s top dogs? Find out this Wednesday at 8/7 C, only on WWE Network!
