Kurt Angle Mentions American Alpha In Recent Interview With Gorilla Position

In a recent interview with Gorilla Position 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame inductee, Kurt Angle, admitted that he would be interested in managing the current Smackdown Tag Team Champions, American Alpha. Here’s what he had to say:

Kurt Angle told Gorilla Position that he would be interested in managing Smackdown Tag Team Champions American Alpha.

Angle, who won six world titles while competing for WWE between 1998 and 2006, will be inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame in March.

The 48-year-old hopes to wrestle for WWE again but says he would also be keen to nurture Chad Gable and Jason Jordan, who won Smackdown’s twin titles from The Wyatt Family in December.

Angle took gold in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, while Gable competed in the Greco-Roman class at the 2012 Games in London.

“I love watching American Alpha,” said Angle. “They have such a gift.

“They remind me so much of Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin in the old Team Angle, while this Gable kid also reminds me a little bit of myself, so I would be happy to manage them to some extent.

American Alpha def. The Ascension

Having overcome the odds and a hellacious beating at the hands of The Usos during the Tag Team Turmoil Match Sunday at Elimination Chamber, American Alpha looked to continue their hot streak against The Ascension on SmackDown LIVE.

Though Konnor & Viktor have been impressive in recent weeks, in the end, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions reigned supreme, defeating Viktor with Grand Amplitude for the win.

As the dust cleared, there would be no rest for Jason Jordan & Chad Gable as Jimmy & Jey Uso appeared on the TitanTron and made it clear that The Usos would be watching them at all times.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions American Alpha win Tag Team Turmoil

PHOENIX — Many thought American Alpha were overconfident when they agreed to face every tandem from SmackDown LIVE in a Tag Team Turmoil Match for their SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Those critics were forced to eat their words, however, after Jason Jordan & Chad Gable outlasted their challengers to retain their titles at WWE Elimination Chamber 2017.

The bout started off with the first-ever SmackDown Tag Team Champions, Heath Slater & Rhyno, squaring off against Breezango. Unfortunately for SmackDown LIVE’s Fashion Police, there was no citation to stop Rhyno from Gore-ing Fandango & Tyler Breeze out of the bout. The Vaudevillains came out next and met a similar fate, with Slater pinning Aiden English after an implant DDT.

Though the inaugural champions looked to be on their way to a second reign, The Usos stopped the red-hot Slater & Rhyno in their tracks, pinning Slater with a superkick. That sent American Alpha into the melee, where Jimmy & Jey Uso met the reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions in the aisle and set off a brawl back to the ring. The Usos tried, but failed, to keep Chad Gable away from Jason Jordan, setting off a rapid-fire series of events that ended with Gable pinning Jey for the three-count.

The Usos went into a fury after their elimination, bulldozing over American Alpha and hurling Gable into the steel ring steps. Things looked bleak for the champions as the final team in the battle, The Ascension, entered the ring and immediately hit a dazed Jordan with the Fall of Man. However, Gable somehow made it back into the ring and broke up the pinfall.

Viktor & Konnor tried to capitalize on the weary champions, but American Alpha was all heart and refused to give in. Evading Konnor, Jordan got back to his corner and tagged in Gable, who neutralized the big man at ringside. He then slid back into the ring just in time to connect with Grand Amplitude to retain the titles.

American Alpha have survived their biggest challenge to date by outlasting every team on SmackDown LIVE in Tag Team Turmoil. With that feather in their cap, who’s next to step up and challenge the SmackDown Tag Team Champions?

Elimination Chamber 2017 Preview: SmackDown Tag Team Championship Turmoil Match

In their quest to become synonymous with tag team excellence, SmackDown LIVE Tag Team Champions American Alpha have welcomed all challengers, and they’ll get exactly that at SmackDown LIVE’s next pay-per-view, WWE Elimination Chamber.

After Jason Jordan & Chad Gable’s open challenge resulted in an out-of-control brawl on the Jan. 31 edition of SmackDown LIVE, General Manager Daniel Bryan declared on Talking Smack that American Alpha must defend the titles in a Tag Team Turmoil Match on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Their challengers include The Usos, Heath Slater & Rhyno, Breezango, The Ascension and The Vaudevillains, a formidable field of five tandems, with no fewer than four sets being former tag team champions.

The Tag Team Turmoil Match — the same type of bout that Jordan & Gable won on the Nov. 22, 2016, edition of SmackDown LIVE to move into championship contention in the first place — begins with two teams. Once one team is eliminated, a new duo enters the match. This continues until one team is left standing tall.

Can American Alpha continue to show their dominance in Team Blue’s division? Or will one of their challengers usurp the powerful pair?

Watch the turmoil live at WWE Elimination Chamber, Sunday, Feb. 12, at 8 ET/5 PT, on the award-winning WWE Network.

The Ascension, The Vaudevillains & The Usos def. American Alpha, Breezango & Heath Slater & Rhyno – 12-Man Tag Team Match

Before five teams attempt to unseat SmackDown Tag Team Champions American Alpha in a Tag Team Turmoil Match this Sunday, they were forced to temporarily co-exist in a 12-Man Tag Team Match on SmackDown LIVE.

The action was unpredictable and, at times, tense as these teams that will compete on Sunday attempted to work together. In the end, it was Konnor & Viktor of The Ascension who prevailed, with Viktor hitting a big knee onto Rhyno for the win.

Chaos broke loose before SmackDown Tag Team Champions American Alpha’s open challenge ever began

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable issued an open challenge for their SmackDown Tag Team Championship, and although they are forever “Ready, Willing and Gable” to take on all comers, they may have gotten a little bit more than they bargained for as The Usos, The Vaudevillains, The Ascension, Breezango and Heath Slater & Rhyno all heeded their call!

A melee quickly broke out between all the units before a bell could ever ring, and in the end it was only American Alpha and Heath Slater & Rhyno standing tall.
