Before the WWE Universe could bask in the excitement of the revelation of the U.S. Championship tournament, Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable, Rusev & Aiden English and The New Day all made their way out to the ring to petition to be next in line for a SmackDown Tag Team Title opportunity against The Usos. With all three teams making compelling arguments, The “Yes!” Man made another major declaration: The units would square off in a Triple Threat Match, with the winning team getting the next crack inside The Uso Penitentiary … oh, and that match? Yup, you guessed it, it would be next.

Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable def. The New Day and Rusev & Aiden English

With all three teams believing they had earned the right to challenge The Usos straight up for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, The New Day, Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable and Rusev & Aiden English threw everything they had at each other in a thrilling whirlwind of a Triple Threat Match. Each team also may have had a bit of added incentive to show off their stuff, as the titleholders were at ringside sizing up their opponents while providing guest commentary.

An electricity permeated the Allstate Arena as the three teams brought the WWE Universe to their feet. After (somehow) surviving a vicious spear from Big E through the ropes, Benjamin caught Big E off guard with a nuclear knee that left the flapjack fan reeling. Benjamin & Gable capitalized, nearly sending Big E through the canvas with their wicked tandem bulldog for the 1-2-3 to earn an opportunity to challenge for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles next Tuesday.

Every day is Rusev Day and a New Day, but tonight was surely Benjamin and Gable’s night.

Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable def. The Usos

After SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos conquered Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable along with two other tandems while defending the gold at WWE Clash of Champions, Benjamin & Gable looked to bounce back against the twins on Team Blue in non-title action.

Building off their count-out defeat of Jimmy & Jey from several weeks ago, the confident duo of Benjamin & Gable took it right to the champions. The Usos’ unique blend of offense was tough to contain, but Benjamin & Gable made it out of The Uso Penitentiary, as Benjamin scored the 1-2-3 after the duo connected with their devastating double-team maneuver to put themselves right back in the hunt for the coveted titles.

WWE.com: Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin Try To Knock Off The Usos

The Usos survived a grueling Fatal 4-Way Match on Sunday to hang on to their SmackDown Tag Team Titles, but their week won’t be getting any easier, as they’ll be facing Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin on SmackDown LIVE. The duos collided for Team Blue’s tag team titles over a month ago, and Gable & Benjamin won by count-out and feel that they’re still owed a rematch for the championship. This is their chance to prove they deserve it.

Can Gable & Benjamin once again knock off the champions? Find out tonight on SmackDown LIVE at 8/7 C on USA Network!

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos def. The New Day, Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin and Rusev & Aiden English (Fatal 4-Way Match)

BOSTON — Rusev Day will have to wait. So will a New Day, yes it will. So will vindication for Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin. The SmackDown Tag Team Titles still belong to The Uso Penitentiary.

Jimmy & Jey Uso survived the night where every SmackDown championship is on the line, denying The New Day, Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin and an insurgent Rusev & Aiden English to retain their hard-won Team Blue Tag Titles in a match that was a culmination of sorts for everyone involved.

For The New Day, it was a reminder that they are one of, if not the, top threats of any division they compete in, as an early burst from ya boys led Gable & Benjamin to focus their efforts on The New Day while and Rusev & English isolated The Usos – there was a friendly submission competition of sorts between English and Chad Gable at one point – before coming to blows against each other.

Speaking of Rusev & English, it was a declarative statement that they’re more than an odd-couple tag team, as English played spoiler on multiple occasions when other teams were primed to win the contest, and Rusev — a vocal favorite of the WWE Universe in this match — nearly sealed the bout with an Accolade on Big E that the formidable Superstar was shockingly unable to power his way out of.

Gable & Benjamin made a similar statement in the bout. An impromptu tag team that formed out of the dissolution of American Alpha and Benjamin’s delayed return to WWE, the two went on the most unexpected tear of the contest by a mile, particularly when Gable locked Jey Uso in the Texas Cloverleaf and Shelton powerbombed a flying Kofi Kingston out of the sky. Gable also took the bout into his hands in the closing moments, breaking up Rusev’s Accolade with ruthless German suplexes to The Super Athlete, Aiden English and Big E in short order.

But for The Usos, the match was little more than another opportunity to reassert their utter and complete dominance over SmackDown’s tag team scene. Despite being outnumbered, outgunned and the focal point of all their challengers, the twins came through in the deciding moments when they stopped Gable’s suplex train in its tracks, chopped him down with superkicks, and finished him off with a breathtaking splash. It’s rare that a team declares their division on “lockdown” and isn’t exaggerating to some degree, but it’s been just that kind of year for Jimmy & Jey. The reign continues…

Clash Of Champions 2017 Preview: SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. The New Day vs. Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable (Fatal Four-Way Match)

During a night where every title is on the line, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos will defend the gold in a Fatal 4-Way Match at WWE Clash of Champions tomorrow, streaming live on WWE Network.

There is no love lost between Jimmy & Jey Uso and Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods. Though the two teams seem to have developed mutual respect, they were recently engaged in one of the most heated rivalries in history, punctuated by a brutal match contested inside the horrifying confines of Hell in a Cell that saw Jimmy & Jey win the titles. And while they may respect the twins, The New Day will undoubtedly hold nothing back in their quest to become five-time Tag Team Champions.

And then there’s Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable, the mat-wrestling mavens who defeated The Hype Bros, Breezango & The Ascension to earn a title opportunity against The Usos. Benjamin & Gable went all-out in their pursuit of the SmackDown Tag Team Titles in a championship bout several weeks ago, with Gable taking out the knee of Jey Uso to give his team a win by count-out – so they did not win the titles. However, after claiming a win over Jimmy & Jey, the grapplers believe that they are entitled to a championship rematch. They’ll get their opportunity at WWE Clash of Champions.

Which brings us to “Rusev Day!” Following a huge victory over The New Day on the Dec. 5 edition of SmackDown LIVE, Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan determined that Rusev & Aiden English should be added the SmackDown Tag Team Championship showdown, meaning The Usos will now be defend their titles against Rusev & English, The New Day and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin in what is sure to be a wild Fatal 4-Way Match. There will be four Superstars in the ring at all times until there’s a pinfall or a submission and each competitor is only able to tag their partner.

Who will leave Boston with the SmackDown Tag Team Titles? Find out on a night where every championship is on the line at WWE Clash of Champions, streaming live tomorrow at 8 ET/5 PT on the award-winning WWE Network!

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos & The New Day def. Chad Gable, Shelton Benjamin, Rusev & Aiden English

Before the action got underway in the Eight-Man Tag Team Match during TV’s most heartwarming and patriotic show of the year, The New Day honored the U.S. military by leading the servicemembers at Naval Base San Diego in a “New Day Rocks” chant, modified to say “USA.”

Although The New Day and The Usos will be at odds at WWE Clash of Champions in a Fatal 4-Way SmackDown Tag Team Title Match, they joined forces with the SmackDown Tag Team Champions to face a quartet made up of the other two teams in the battle on Sunday – Aiden English & Rusev and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin.

The highly competitive matchup offered a glimpse of the type of action and athleticism that will be on display at Sunday’s pay-per-view. While the team of English, Rusev, Gable and Benjamin put forth a valiant effort, the teamwork of Jimmy & Jey Uso and The New Day created a nearly unstoppable force as the Power of Positivity reigned supreme, and Xavier Woods and Big E picked up the victory for their squad.

Prior to their match against Rusev & Aiden English, who will challenge them for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles along with two other squads in a Fatal 4-Way at WWE Clash of Champions, The Usos partook in a war of words with both their imminent opponents and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin.

In the wild contest that followed, The New Day provided some lively commentary, and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin remained at ringside. Then, at the height of the action, bedlam between the teams allowed Rusev to deliver a fierce kick outside the ring. This set up The Drama King to drive Jimmy Uso’s head into the canvas and score a huge win over the SmackDown Tag Team Champions five days before WWE Clash of Champions!
